In einem Import-Export-Laden in Düsseldorf bis unter die Decke gestapelt, fand die Künstlerin hunderte Lederjacken. Ihr Leder stammt von türkischen Lämmern, von anatolischen Frauen in Heimarbeit zu Patchwork verarbeitet. In Istanbul werden daraus tausende von Jacken genäht, die man nach Osteuropa exportiert, wo sie containerweise gegen Rohstoffe getauscht werden. Als würde sie diese Produktionskette wieder schließen, recycelt Asta Gröting die menschenähnlichen, aufrechten Oberkörperformen der Jacken und lässt sie wie auf allen Vieren im Kreis, zu acht oder zu achtundzwanzigst hintereinander herlaufen.
The artist found hundreds of leather jackets piled to the ceiling in an import-export store in Düsseldorf. Their leather comes from Turkish lambs made by Anatolian women in home labor into patchwork. In Istanbul, thousands of jackets are then sewn together that are sold to Eastern Europe, where they are exchanged by the shipload for raw materials. As if the production chain were closed again, Asta Gröting recycles the human-like, torso shapes of the jackets and lets them purse one another on all fours in a circle, in rows of eight or 28, one after another.
